August 9, 2024
From July 29 to August 2, 2024, three short-term exchange students (undergraduates) from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia participated in a five-day internship at our NCD Epidemiology Research Center. During this period, we engaged in friendly exchanges and discussions, from which we shared our study experiences and new inspirations with each other.
Throughout the week, we hosted three interns. Center Director Miura first introduced the NCD Epidemiology Research Center and its various research activities. During the internship, four of the PhD students formed a welcome team and presented their research topics to the interns through lectures. After the presentations, everyone participated in a Q&A session and engaged in discussions.
On the final day of the internship, the three students gave us a great presentation on the current state of NCDs (non-communicable diseases) in Malaysia, including their diet, habit and prevalence of disease, followed by lively discussions with our graduate students and faculty members.
Not only research discussions, but we also organized tea gatherings and other activities, which fostered warm and friendly exchanges during lunch time. This brief time together provided a valuable opportunity for interaction, and I believe it will become a meaningful experience and memory for us and do some study in the future.
